India's exports to the US remain steady, making up roughly one in every five dollars India earns from exports this year. Despite tariffs on Indian goods fluctuating—from a peak of 50% during the Trump administration to 18% in February and now 10%—trade with the US has not slowed. The US remains India’s top export market. To mitigate over-reliance, India has expanded trade deals with the UK, EU, New Zealand, Australia, and the UAE. Additionally, India has introduced around 500 new export products, including electronics, engineering, and marine goods. While these diversification efforts are underway, experts note it will take time for these changes to significantly reduce US dependence. Smaller markets like Tanzania and Vietnam are growing but still cannot compete with the US in terms of export volume.
