India vs Bangladesh series could be pushed back again, says BCB chief Tamim Iqbal

India's proposed tour of Bangladesh faces fresh uncertainty as the BCB and BCCI continue discussing dates for the six-match series. The series, originally scheduled for August 2025, has already been postponed to September 2026. India is set to play three ODIs and three T20Is, but the BCCI has not yet confirmed the itinerary. BCB president Tamim Iqbal stated that both boards are still in discussion, with potential shifts in dates. The uncertainty has also impacted the Bangladesh Cricket Board's domestic calendar, which must remain flexible. Additionally, the BCB is reconsidering the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) due to financial and administrative issues, with Tamim Iqbal indicating that the tournament may not be held this year. The BCB has faced losses of around 40 crore Bangladeshi Taka in recent editions and is working with franchises to resolve outstanding payments. Meanwhile, the India series' opening date remains September 3, pending finalization between the boards. Relations between the cricket boards have been strained due to past incidents, including the Kolkata Knight Riders controversy and Bangladesh's refusal to travel to India for the T20 World Cup. However, recent efforts by Tamim Iqbal, including his visit to the BCCI Centre of Excellence, have shown signs of thawing tensions.
