Jason Sanjay reveals his first dreams before becoming director: 'I was crazy about...'

Jason Sanjay's directorial debut, Sigma, is currently in the post-production stage, with its release date yet to be announced. The film has already generated significant buzz, as fans eagerly await the big-screen debut of actor-turned-Chief Minister Vijay's son as a filmmaker. While Jason's passion for directing has been years in the making, he recently revealed that he once had entirely different career plans before ultimately choosing the path of filmmaking. In an interview with Behindwoods, Jason Sanjay said, "Initially, I wanted to become a pilot. Later, I aspired to be a cricketer. You would have even seen me during the first season of Indian Premiere League in 2008 where I was accompanying my father, who was at the time, the brand ambassador of IPL. I was crazy about cricket. While I like batting, my talent lies in bowling." But for Sanjay, the real shift happened when he was in his 11th or 12th grade. "When the question of what I wanted to pursue for college came up, I realised my inclination towards cinema and filmmaking. I loved storytelling. I got into the habit of writing, especially 'word vomit' where I would dump my ideas, thoughts and stories onto paper. That is when I chose to take up a filmmaking course in Canada's Toronto. It gave me an understanding of what I wanted to do," he added. Jason's upcoming film Sigma, headlined by Sundeep Kishan, is described as a "high-stakes heist" film, offering a combination of action, humour, heist, and treasure-hunt elements. The cast also features Faria Abdullah, Raju Sundaram, Anbu Thasan, Yog Japee, Sampath Raj, Kiran Konda, and Magalakshmi Sudharsanan and others. Sigma’s technical crew features music composer Thaman, cinematographer Krishnan Vasant, editor Praveen KL, and art director Benjamin M. The film is slated to release in theatres on July 31.
