Joty targets Asia Cup final, Asian Games medal for Bangladesh

The Asia Cup will be held in the United Arab Emirates from August 28 to September 13. Bangladesh starts their campaign against Indonesia on August 31 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The team aims to reach the Women's T20 Asia Cup final, overcoming repeated semifinal setbacks. Captain Nigar Sultana Joty emphasizes the importance of a strong group-stage performance to avoid facing India in the semifinals. Bangladesh won the Asia Cup in 2018 but failed to progress beyond the semifinals in the last edition. Joty highlights the need for better exposure to multi-day cricket in Bangladesh’s domestic competitions, following the team’s recent Test status. She also aims to secure a medal at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan, after winning silver in 2010 and bronze in 2014.
