Suffolk mum completes cycle challenge four months postpartum

Mum Rhiannon from Long Melford, Suffolk, completed a 320km bike ride from Cambridge to Bruges in Belgium in memory of her stillborn son Hudson, who was born four months after her second son Lochlan. The ride, part of a charity event supporting families affected by baby loss, was organized by West Suffolk Hospital's neonatal unit. Rhiannon's son Hudson died in March 2025 due to hypoplastic left heart syndrome. The charity ride aimed to raise funds for the neonatal unit's bereavement services, including memory boxes, a phototherapy unit for home treatment, and support for families. Rhiannon trained sporadically due to recovering from Lochlan's premature birth but completed the challenge with support from her partner and community. The event also raised awareness and funds for the neonatal unit's exceptional care for families.
