By Rita Okoye After an outstanding seven-week run in theaters, Onobiren is wrapping up as one of 2026’s top Nollywood hits. The film earned an impressive ₦138.1 million at the box office within seven weeks, becoming the highest-grossing film about women, the highest-grossing South-South production, and the highest-grossing faith-based film in Nollywood. It also became the number one film in West Africa for two consecutive weeks and the highest-grossing March 2026 release, surpassing the ₦100 million mark in just three weeks. Beyond box office numbers, Onobiren redefined industry standards with a stellar 9.1 IMDb rating and a spot among the top three Nollywood releases of 2026. Executive producer and writer Laju Iren expressed gratitude for the collective effort behind the film, highlighting the support from the press, cinema community, partners, critics, and supporters. The film is set to transition to virtual cinemas from May 1st to 5th, allowing wider audience access.
