Pant scripts history, surpasses Dhoni to become India's leading wicketkeeper run-scorer in away Tests

Rishabh Pant, India's wicketkeeper/batter, has surpassed MS Dhoni to become India's leading wicketkeeper-run scorer in away or neutral Tests. Pant achieved this feat during India's 2nd Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Monday. He has scored 2,501 runs with an average of 41.68, narrowly surpassing Dhoni's 2,496 runs. Farokh Engineer (1,209), Syed Kirmani (1,109), and Kiran More (901) round out the top five. Pant retired hurt after being struck on his left arm during the opening day of the second Test. The incident occurred during the third session when Sri Lanka pacer Lahiru Kumara bowled a short delivery, striking Pant on the left arm. Pant was visibly in pain and attended to by the team physiotherapist, with an ice pack applied before strapping. He walked off the field after scoring three runs off 15 balls in the 58th over. On Day 2, Pant returned to bat after Sri Lanka took their sixth wicket by dismissing Saransh Jain. He joined Dhruv Jurel to steady India's innings, adding 47 runs before the drinks break.
