NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced ‘Sapta Dharas’—a seven-point reform framework to accelerate India’s march toward its goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047. Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the 80th Independence Day, Modi invoked the seven streams of power to build a developed India. The seven areas of focus are: Manufacturing power Agriculture and food processing Technology and innovation Gati Shakti Defence Power Green economy Soft power. In the coming 5-7 years, these streams will drive India’s progress, leveraging national youth power for nation-building. Manufacturing power: Modi emphasized India’s need to establish itself as a trusted global supply chain partner, stressing quality, cost, and scale benchmarks. Agriculture and food processing: He called for farmers to access global markets, promoting traditional products like millets, spices, and chemical-free produce. Technology and innovation: Modi highlighted India’s potential in AI, quantum technology, and digital infrastructure, aiming for global leadership in next-generation tech. Gati Shakti: Focused on high-speed rail and port-led development to boost economic growth. Defence power: Emphasized self-reliance in defence, including hypersonic technologies and cybersecurity. Green and blue economy: Promoted green hydrogen, renewable energy, and ocean technology to create green jobs. Soft power: Highlighted yoga, Ayurveda, culture, and digital content as tools for global influence. Modi stressed these reforms are interconnected, requiring a holistic approach to achieve India’s development goals.
