( MENAFN - IANS ) Mumbai, April 25 (IANS) Filmmaker Subhash Ghai, who directed the 1993 film 'Khalnayak', praised Sanjay Dutt for reprising the iconic character Ballu Balram, calling it a 'big challenge' for the actor. Ghai expressed confidence that Sanjay would prove himself again. Sanjay Dutt announced that 'Khalnayak Returns' would be a 'fresh interpretation' of the original film, starring Madhuri Dixit Nene, Jackie Shroff, Anupam Kher, and Rakhee Gulzar. The film follows two police officers, Ram and Ganga, as they attempt to apprehend the escaped criminal Ballu. Sanjay Dutt has acquired the rights to revive 'Khalnayak', a film close to his heart, and thanked Ghai and Mukta Arts for entrusting him with the legacy. The project includes Jyoti, Jio Studios, and Aksha as partners.
