He faced two charges under Section 298A of the Penal Code for promoting racial disharmony and two under the Protection from Harassment Act for indecent communications likely to cause alarm. Police stated Yee made statements advocating child sexual abuse material and abolishing related laws. His case is set for a pre-trial conference on September 18. Convictions could result in up to three years’ imprisonment, fines, or both for racial offences, and a $5,000 fine for indecent communications. The police issued an Online Criminal Harms Act (OCHA) Disabling Direction to remove a video from X (formerly Twitter) on August 18, and Stop Communication Directions to remove posts from his personal blog.
