TV tonight: six people join an Amish community for this new reality series

Suddenly Amish 10pm, TLC Tapping into the cultural obsession with tradwife life, this reality series sends a group of men and women to live in an Amish community. Unsurprisingly, they’re met with scepticism. But the participants seem genuinely attuned to this new way of life: coffee barista Billie Jo has been dressing in Amish clothes at work for 10 years. But then Kendra is shamed for arriving in a low-cut dress, and Aaron’s phone is confiscated – despite him needing it for his hearing aid. Hollie Richardson Best Medicine 8pm, Sky One Kind of blue ... Photograph: Fox Big-city surgeon turned local doctor Martin Best (Josh Charles) is finally warming to the sleepy Maine town of Port Wenn. Or at least he is willing to tolerate its folksy traditions, such as the imminent annual pie-making competition, which is so competitive that one patient describes it as “like The Purge, but with blueberries”. Graeme Virtue Faithless 9pm, Sky Atlantic Tomas Alfredson (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) directs a six-part reinterpretation of Ingmar Bergman’s semi-autobiographical love triangle drama. David and Marianne reflect on their passionate, destructive affair, with the story beginning on a summer trip to Stockholm in 1977. HR The Pike County Murders: A Family Massacre 9pm, U&W This true-crime series attempts to untangle the motivation behind the murders of eight members of a rural Ohio family in 2016. As the biggest criminal investigation in the state’s history continues, authorities unearth CCTV footage that seems to implicate another local clan. G V I Kissed a Girl 9pm, BBC Three Dannii Minogue is the host of I Kissed a Girl. Photograph: BBC/TwoFour Wholesome, saucy and educational (how many shows can say that?!), the BBC’s now cancelled gay dating show will be so missed. There are still four episodes to go, though – this double bill sees more emotional farewells and a chemistry test that leaves nowhere for shaky couples to hide. Hannah J Davies The American Revolution 10pm, BBC Four 1780: the final phase. Cavalry commander Banastre Tarleton helps Gen Charles Cornwallis drive Britain’s southern campaign. Meanwhile, in Ken Burns’ epic history lesson, Benedict Arnold’s defection rocks the patriot cause – before the French help deliver Washington’s decisive victory at Yorktown, paving the way for American independence.
