India Tomorrow: NEW DELHI: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) strongly condemned Taslima Nasrin’s inflammatory remarks about the Uniform Civil Code and Islamic seminaries (madrasas). Speaking in Kolkata, Nasrin made provocative statements alleging that madrasas promote extremism and produce 'jihadis,' calling it a falsehood and malicious slander. AIMPLB Spokesperson Dr. SQR Ilyas stated these accusations hurt religious sentiments and vitiate communal harmony. He urged the Government of India to prevent such interference, emphasizing that India cannot tolerate hate-driven politics by foreign nationals. Nasrin’s remarks on Bangladesh were also criticized as irresponsible, potentially harming bilateral relations. Dr. Ilyas noted that similar allegations have been made repeatedly without credible evidence, yet madrasas educate millions of children and contribute to national service. The Board called for the Government to take action against inflammatory statements and protect India’s constitutional and social fabric.
