Morrow makes Tempo debut as team looks to the future

After bringing Aneesah Morrow to the Toronto Tempo from the Connecticut Sun on Friday, she made her debut on Tuesday against the Golden State Valkyries. The Tempo are hoping Morrow adds energy to their roster and solidifies their long-term strategy. General manager Monica Wright Rogers stated, "This was not a move for the short term. We envision Aneesah to be part of our core as we work towards sustained contention." Morrow, a second-year player from LSU, is known for her hustle and rebounding ability, with potential to become a three-level scorer. She could help address the team’s rebounding issues immediately and is under contract for next season, with an option to extend her contract for the 2028 campaign. The Tempo are 13th league-wide in team rebounds per game due to injuries and undersized frontcourt players. Morrow arrived in San Francisco on Sunday but did not play in Sunday’s game. She played 16 minutes in Tuesday’s game, scoring 8 points and grabbing 5 rebounds, but the Tempo lost 92-81. Head coach Sandy Brondello noted she was still adjusting. The Tempo are 10-20 on the season, with a road trip to Portland against the Fire next. Injuries have affected the team, but Sykes, Rice, Sabally, and Harrison have returned. Sykes is expected to return before the season ends.
