Mumbai, Aug 5 (SocialNews.XYZ) The title of Karthik Subbaraj’s next film, ‘Dorothy,’ was announced ahead of its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. The filmmaker expressed a desire to explore identity, caste, masculinity, and compassion through deeply human characters, not spectacle. The film is set to release in theatres across India on September 25. Karthik Subbaraj, writer-director, stated, "Dorothy is a film I've carried with me for a long time. It comes from a world I know intimately, where friendship becomes a refuge, love survives in silence, and tenderness exists even in harsh places." The Tamil-language film, with an original score by legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja in his milestone 1,540th film, is backed by Jio Studios and Sikhya Entertainment. It stars Sananth, Rishikanth, and Keerthy Suresh in pivotal roles. Producers Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain, known for *The Elephant Whisperers*, emphasized Dorothy’s themes of empathy and humanity. Jyoti Deshpande, President of Jio Studios, highlighted the film’s authenticity and timeless emotional resonance. The film’s world premiere is scheduled for the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival’s Centrepiece section.
