Broadway icon Lea Salonga to receive Hollywood Walk of Fame star on Sept 4

Lea Salonga, a Tony Award-winning Broadway star and 'Disney legend', will be the first Filipino to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on September 4. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced this milestone achievement. Salonga's career spans over four decades, beginning with performances in theatres and B-movies in the Philippines in the 1980s. She gained international recognition by winning the role of Kim in *Miss Saigon* in 1988 at age 17, earning her the Olivier Award in 1990 and the Tony Award the following year. She later became the first Asian performer to play Eponine in *Les Misérables* on Broadway in 1993. Salonga has also performed in *Les Misérables* revivals and other Broadway productions, including *Once On This Island*, *Here Lies Love*, *Allegiance*, and *Old Friends*. Beyond theatre, she is renowned for her voice roles in Disney films, such as Princess Jasmine in *Aladdin* and Mulan in *Mulan* and *Mulan II*. She has received numerous accolades, including a Time100 Impact Award and the Gold House Gold Legend Award. Her contributions to Filipino and global arts have inspired generations.
