It is the dream home of Bollywood’s superstar, as SRK had his eyes on it while shooting ‘Yes Boss’ in 1997. Though he was shooed away from the property during filming, the sea-facing bungalow left a lasting impression. In 2001, Shah Rukh Khan finally purchased the property for Rs 13.01 crore. The journey to acquiring Mannat was challenging. In 1997, SRK and Gauri were living in Aziz Mirza’s house, Devdoot, near Mannat. Aziz recalled that SRK promised Gauri he would buy the house someday. Reflecting on this, SRK revealed in a 2005 documentary that buying Mannat was one of the most difficult things he had ever done. He explained that he had no other home, having lost his parents, and Mannat was essential for his family’s security. After purchasing, SRK faced additional hurdles: furnishing the mansion was beyond their means. He turned to Gauri Khan, his wife, to design the house, leveraging her artistic talent. They spent limited resources, such as buying leather for a sofa in South Africa, to furnish Mannat. Originally named Villa Vienna, Mannat now stands as a landmark property valued at approximately Rs 200 crore, one of the most expensive homes owned by Bollywood’s King Khan.
