Cyclist Chris to take on 1,000-mile challenge for YMCA Humber

A North East Lincolnshire cyclist, Chris Charlton, is preparing to cycle 1,000 miles across the UK in 11 days to raise funds for YMCA Humber. Beginning on September 4, he will ride between 80 and 125 miles daily, tackling ascents totaling 17,000 meters. The challenge supports YMCA Humber’s work with young people and communities in North East Lincolnshire. Chris will start from YMCA Humber, cross Wales via Anglesey, climb Snowdonia, and visit landmarks like Menai Bridge, Llanberis Pass, Portmeirion, the Mach Loop, St David’s, and return to 21 Freeman Street on September 14. Chris chose this cause after seeing YMCA Humber’s impact on local individuals struggling with life challenges. His partner works for YMCA Humber, highlighting their community efforts. Kate Conway, YMCA Humber’s chief executive, praised Chris’s initiative, emphasizing resilience and community support. Along the route, Chris will visit his late father-in-law’s grave. Havercroft Construction has provided time off for Chris, and the company will donate to his JustGiving appeal. Chris aims to raise over £1,000, sharing updates to engage supporters. The journey tests his determination, with motivation driven by the end goal.
