As published on Blog do Amaury Jr./Splash UOL At a time of fragmented audiences, endless new releases and shows that seem to disappear almost as quickly as they arrive, two very different hits have just proved that there is still room for what we once simply called event television. The Season 3 finale of House of the Dragon reached 21 million viewers in its first three days , according to figures released by Warner Bros. Discovery. More than 11 million of those viewers were in the United States. The number is even more significant because it nearly matches the season premiere, which drew 21.5 million viewers over the same period. In other words, despite the passionate debates, the criticism, the Team Black versus Team Green wars and a season that sharply divided fans, Westeros can still draw a massive crowd. Season 3 is currently averaging 34 million viewers per episode , almost identical to the 35 million average posted by Season 2. According to HBO, that puts House of the Dragon among HBO Max’s three most-watched returning seasons ever. On the other side of the streaming landscape, Ted Lasso returned after three years and managed something perhaps even more remarkable for Apple TV. The Season 4 premiere generated 296.6 million minutes watched in the United States in just two days , making it the biggest launch in Apple TV history, according to Nielsen. That means it surpassed previous seasons of Ted Lasso as well as high-profile titles such as Severance and Pluribus . On August 5 alone, Ted Lasso topped 200 million minutes watched and became the most-streamed program in the United States that day. Using the estimated-views metric increasingly adopted by streaming platforms, the episode drew approximately 7.1 million views . And that may be the most interesting part of the story. These are two almost completely opposite shows. One is built around dragons, war, betrayal and family tragedy. The other became a phenomenon through kindness, comedy, football and characters audiences learned to love. The numbers are also measured differently, which means they should not be treated as a direct comparison. But they do tell the same story: House of the Dragon and Ted Lasso can still make audiences stop, watch and talk about a television series at the same time. In 2026, that is becoming something of a superpower. Descubra mais sobre Assine para receber nossas notícias mais recentes por e-mail. Navegação de posts
