Husband fulfils late wife's wish to help domestic abuse victims

Rod Parsons said he was happy to pass on his wife Julie's homemade toiletry washbags after her death in 2021. Julie Parsons from Staffordshire made about 25 bags, which she planned to fill with essential items for domestic abuse victims. They remained in the home she lived in with her husband Rod. After a staff member from a Wolverhampton domestic abuse charity stayed at his Airbnb, Rod donated seven of the bags. These bags had essential toiletry items added by the charity 'The Haven'. Rod shared that Julie, while hospitalized in 2018, had made the bags to support others. She was a quilter and exhibited her work. The bags were later filled with donations and given to women being helped by 'The Haven'. Emma Sweeney, a domestic abuse practitioner from 'The Haven', completed a fundraising walk and stayed at Rod's Airbnb, prompting him to donate the bags for their original purpose. Anna Pendlebury, head of fundraising and engagement at 'The Haven', expressed gratitude for the donation, highlighting that it fulfilled Julie's wish to support women affected by domestic abuse.
