Khalifa: The Ruler box office day 1: Prithviraj Sukumaran film earns Rs 5.35 crore in India

Prithviraj Sukumaran-starrer Khalifa: The Ruler opened in theatres with a strong first-day performance, collecting Rs 5.35 crore net in India, according to trade estimates. The Malayalam action thriller was released during the Onam holiday and recorded its strongest response in the Malayalam market. The film registered 1,967 shows on its opening day. Its India gross collection was reported at Rs 6.20 crore, while the overseas market contributed another Rs 7 crore, taking the film's worldwide gross to Rs 13.20 crore. The Malayalam version recorded an overall occupancy of 40.97% on day one. Audience turnout increased through the day, with night shows registering the highest occupancy at 55.83%. More than 1.54 lakh tickets were sold across 2,282 shows in 578 cinemas, generating Rs 2.83 crore in advance revenue across India. The Malayalam version accounted for most of these bookings, while the Tamil and Telugu versions recorded limited sales. Directed by Vysakh and written by Jinu V. Abraham, Khalifa: The Ruler is the first part of a planned two-film series. Abraham has also co-produced the movie with Suraj Kumar. Prithviraj Sukumaran leads the cast alongside Neil Nitin Mukesh, Malvika Sharma, Shammi Thilakan, and Indrans. Mohanlal, Tovino Thomas, and Soubin Shahir appear in cameos. The film also marks Neil Nitin Mukesh's Malayalam debut and reunites Prithviraj and Vysakh after 15 years. The story centres on Aamir Ali and his family's criminal network, which operates across India and the Middle East. The family faces betrayal, retaliation, and power struggles that threaten its future.
