Michael Jackson Sequel Film May Address Sexual Abuse Allegations: "To Explore the Accusations from Michael's Perspective"

A sequel to the Michael Jackson biographical film 'Michael,' starring Taryn Jackson, will tackle the late star's child sexual abuse allegations, which were previously omitted in the original film. Released in April, 'Michael' grossed over $1 billion globally but concluded at the time of the 1987 album 'Bad,' avoiding the 1993 allegations. Taryn Jackson confirmed in an interview with 'GQ Middle East' that the sequel will explore these allegations from Michael's perspective. He stated, 'The sequel will offer much deeper insight from my uncle's perspective. Ultimately, those accusations were all someone else's story—viewed through others' lenses and largely shaped by certain intentions.' However, he clarified he is not involved in the screenplay development. The sequel aims to depict Michael's unwavering innocence despite controversies. Allegations persisted from 1993 until his death in 2009, with a 1993 civil lawsuit settlement and a 2005 criminal acquittal. New revelations from the 2019 documentary 'Leaving Neverland' reignited controversy. Critics argue that framing the allegations as 'someone else's story' could minimize their seriousness. Taryn Jackson also hinted that Janet Jackson, Michael's sister, may have her own film planned. The exact release date remains undecided, with Lionsgate aiming to begin filming within this year.
