The MPBL’s Abra Weavers are set to compete in the East Asia Super League (EASL) for the 2026-27 season following a partnership between the two leagues. MPBL founder Manny Pacquiao expressed pride in this development, stating, 'This is a proud moment for the MPBL. From the beginning, our vision has been to create opportunities for Filipino basketball to continue growing.' EASL CEO Henry Kerins welcomed the Abra Weavers, saying, 'Abra has quickly established itself as one of the Philippines’ strongest clubs, and we’re excited to see them compete against Asia’s best.' The partnership strengthens the leagues' presence in Asia’s basketball market. Other EASL teams include Nagasaki Velca, Goyang Sono Skygunners, Macau Hou Chan, and TSG Ghosthawks. Previously, the Meralco Bolts and San Miguel Beermen represented the Philippines in EASL.
