Netflix sued by Christian metal band Demon Hunter over 'KPop Demon Hunters'

Netflix is facing a lawsuit from Christian metal band Demon Hunter over alleged trademark infringement related to the film ‘KPop Demon Hunters’. The band, which has been active for 25 years, claims that Netflix’s global tour plans, the movie’s name, and related merchandise cause confusion and infringe on their brand. Hyde Lane, the band’s company, filed the lawsuit on 18 August, alleging substantial confusion between their offerings and Netflix’s. They requested Netflix stop using the name ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ for recorded music, live shows, and merchandise, and seek unspecified damages. An example of confusion cited is someone purchasing $500 tickets for a Demon Hunter concert in New York, mistakenly believing it was a child-friendly event.
