Noctule, the video game-inspired metal project led by former Svalbard vocalist/guitarist Serena Cherry, have unveiled a new single inspired by Malenia, one of the bosses in Elden Ring. Dubbed ‘Goddess Of Rot,’ the track is part of Cherry’s musical tribute to the character, featured on her upcoming sophomore album, ‘Extinguish Thy Flame.’ The album focuses on bosses and characters from Elden Ring. Malenia’s tragic story of sacrifice and loss inspired the song, which is one of the slower and more atmospheric tracks on the album. Cherry explained that the song blends emotional screams, delicate clean singing, and atmospheric Finnish Metal influences like Insomnium and Sentenced, alongside DSBM influences such as Thy Light. The song reflects Malenia’s struggle to protect her brother Miquella while being consumed by Scarlet Rot. Cherry connected deeply with Malenia’s story of abandonment and the destructive nature of Scarlet Rot, writing the song to encapsulate both themes. The album is scheduled for release on September 25th.
