On Monday evening, the Philadelphia Phillies concluded their series with the Miami Marlins at LoanDepot Park in Florida. The Phillies won by a score of 1-0. After a terrible start to the season (and firing manager Rob Thomson), the Phillies have started to turn things around. Following the victory, Harper spoke to the media. Harper: “I think we all were kind of just waiting for that ball to drop... Waiting for something to happen, if Thomson was gonna get fired, or if he wasn’t. It was just kind of we need to get over this hump, and get through this. Whatever that looked like... We didn’t play well the first couple of weeks in the season, and April’s behind us. We’ve gotta step forward, and understand that we’re stacking days and playing better.” Bryce Harper is in the middle of his eighth season playing for the Phillies. The 33-year-old is batting .271 with 35 hits, seven home runs, 20 RBI’s and 19 runs in 35 games. Bryce Harper in his first 2 at-bats: 110.3 MPH double 103.3 MPH homer He’s got a 141 wRC+ this season! The Phillies are currently 15-20 in 35 games, which has them as the fourth-place team in the National League East. They are 7-10 in the 17 games they have played on the road. Following their series with the Marlins, the Phillies will now head home to host the Athletics on Tuesday night.
