PHL factory output growth accelerates in June

REUTERS MANUFACTURING OUTPUT expanded at a faster pace in June, driven by the production of coke and refined petroleum products, food products, and transport equipment, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). Preliminary results from the PSA’s latest Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries showed factory output, measured by the volume of production index (VoPI), rose by 10.1% year on year in June. This growth rate was faster than the revised 9.1% growth in May and the revised 2.3% expansion from a year earlier. The PSA attributed the acceleration in growth to increased production in coke and refined petroleum products, food products, and transport equipment. Specifically, the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products grew by 84.5% year on year in June, up from 73.3% in May. Food manufacturing saw a rise of 3.9% year on year, following near-flat growth of 0.02% in May. Transport equipment production expanded by 4.9%, reversing a previous 0.5% contraction. Out of the remaining 19 industry divisions, 12 reported annual increases in June 2026, while seven divisions experienced annual decreases. The industries contributing most to the overall 10.1% annual growth were coke and refined petroleum products, computer, electronic and optical products, and basic metals. In the first half of the year, factory output grew by 5.7% compared to the same period a year earlier.
