Just over a week after arriving in cinemas, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has become the highest-grossing film of 2026. The latest Spider-Man instalment has crossed US$1.1 billion at the global box office, overtaking Toy Story 5, which currently sits at US$1.07 billion. The milestone follows another record-setting day in North America. On Tuesday, the film earned US$42 million, making it the biggest Tuesday at the U.S. box office. It surpassed the previous record held by Spider-Man: Far From Home, which took in US$39.2 million on its opening Tuesday in 2019. The film has grossed US$449 million across the U.S. and Canada in its first five days in cinemas. It is currently the second-highest-grossing domestic release of 2026 and is expected to surpass Toy Story 5, which has earned US$464.6 million. Internationally, Brand New Day has amassed US$706.3 million, making it the highest-grossing overseas release of 2026 to date. It has overtaken Michael, which earned US$643.7 million, and Toy Story 5, which stands at US$604.8 million in international box office receipts. The latest figures add to a growing list of box office records. Brand New Day became the second-fastest film to reach US$1 billion worldwide, behind Avengers: Endgame. It also reached US$400 million at the domestic box office in four days, recorded the biggest Monday in U.S. box office history with US$47 million, and delivered the biggest domestic opening weekend ever with US$360 million, narrowly ahead of Avengers: Endgame’s US$357.1 million. The film is also expected to post one of the biggest second weekends on record. Current projections estimate a US$144 million haul, which would rank behind only Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Avengers: Endgame. For now, Spider-Man: Brand New Day sits at the top of this year’s global box office. With more major markets and weeks in cinemas still ahead, its total is expected to keep climbing.
