Britain's Princess Eugenie, a niece of King Charles III, has welcomed a baby girl, her third child with husband Jack Brooksbank. The princess is the younger daughter of the monarch's disgraced brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor (formerly Prince Andrew) and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson. Her sister Princess Beatrice and husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have two children. Mr Mapelli Mozzi also has a son called Wolfie from a previous relationship. The York family has faced significant changes in the past year due to Andrew's controversies.
Eugenie announced her new baby news with a picture on Instagram, writing: 'Jack and I are so excited to announce Baby Girl Brooksbank!! We are beyond in love with our girlie.' The baby was born in Portugal, weighing 6 pounds 9 ounces (3 kilograms), and Buckingham Palace confirmed the birth on Monday, local time.
Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank, a marketing executive, at Windsor Castle in 2018. They already have two sons, August (born February 2021) and Ernest (born June 2023). The couple divides their time between Portugal and London.
Princess Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 36, are ninth and 12th in line to the British throne. Despite their father being stripped of his titles and public involvement, they retain their royal status. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office and stripped of all titles, his mansion, and public engagement. He denies wrongdoing but regrets his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein.
A watchdog report found that King Charles pays rent for the palace homes of the two princesses. Beatrice lives at St James's Palace, while Eugenie resides at Ivy Cottage within Kensington Palace. Their rents are funded through the privy purse, a private income of the king.
Both princesses have regular jobs: Beatrice works for a tech firm called Afiniti, and Eugenie is an art gallery director. This year, they have been absent from major public royal events, including Trooping the Colour, Wimbledon, and Royal Ascot. They did not attend the Easter church service in April, a notable absence since Andrew, Sarah Ferguson, and the sisters were present in 2025.
Eugenie has been relatively quiet on Instagram this year, posting only a few times, including for family birthdays and her pregnancy announcement. Beatrice does not have an Instagram account. The sisters’ most significant public appearance this year was attending the wedding of their cousin Peter Phillips in June, where they met senior royals including King Charles and Queen Camilla.
