Sony Pictures’ Jeremy Strong is portraying controversial tech CEO Mark Zuckerberg in the upcoming film 'The Social Reckoning,' a sequel to Aaron Sorkin’s 'The Social Network.' Jesse Eisenberg, who played Zuckerberg in the original David Fincher film, declined to reprise the role. Strong, known for his work in 'Succession,' took on the part with Sorkin directing. During an interview for GQ, Strong discussed the challenges of portraying a living, breathing figure like Zuckerberg, who may not appreciate the portrayal. He emphasized the importance of respect and veracity in the portrayal. Strong also revealed he reached out to Zuckerberg after accepting the role, though he did not disclose the content of their correspondence. He described his research into Zuckerberg’s evolution and public persona, aiming to capture both his mannerisms and the transformation into a 'wartime CEO.' The film’s first trailer, released in June, sparked mixed reactions—some praising Strong’s potential Oscar candidacy, while others criticized it as a Razzie-worthy effort. Strong responded that he found the Razzie claim an endorsement, stating, 'That’s the place you want to be.' To prepare, Strong reportedly used a Polish accent during filming, as he was also filming 'The Boys from Brazil' as a Nazi hunter. The film is set to release on October 9.
