DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin has been detained after Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam filed complaints with the police and the National Commission for Women (NCW) regarding alleged remarks against actress Trisha Krishnan. The remarks were made during a public meeting in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, where Udhayanidhi Stalin allegedly responded to chants of 'Trisha, Trisha' by saying, 'Whether the water reaches anywhere else or not, it should reach there,' clarifying he was referring to the Cauvery water dispute. However, TVK alleged he made an obscene and double-meaning remark. S Bairavi, TVK’s Central District Women’s Wing Organizer for Thanjavur, lodged the complaint at Thanjavur East Police Station. Tamil Nadu police deployed a heavy force near his residence. The complaint accused Stalin and DMK officials of degrading women and causing mental stress to Trisha Krishnan and women in general. A 2-minute video of the incident was circulated on X. TVK’s national spokesperson Pazha Selvakumar lodged a formal complaint with the NCW in New Delhi. TVK ministers condemned DMK, calling their actions 'absolutely disgusting,' and BJP spokesperson Narayanan Thirupathy demanded Stalin’s arrest, describing his remarks as 'disgusting, obscene, vulgar, and shameful.'
