A prominent Kannada star, Yash got a nationwide breakthrough with Prashanth Neel’s KGF: Chapter 1. The pan-India movie was presented by Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment in Hindi and clashed at the box office with Shah Rukh Khan’s starrer mega-budget Zero. KGF: Chapter 1 made around Rs 238 crore at the worldwide box office with Rs 45 crore coming from the Hindi version and only Rs 10 crore overseas. It was made on an Rs 80 crore budget. Zero, on the other hand, bombed with just Rs 191 crore globally, with Rs 90.28 crore from India and Rs 70 crore overseas, despite a budget of around Rs 200 crore. Yash spoke to Rajat Sharma during an interview with Aap Ki Adalat about the clash. Sharma asked if Yash deliberately clashed his film with Zero due to his desire to meet Shah Rukh Khan, who did not provide him time. Yash responded, ‘Our film was a small one and Shah Rukh sir’s film was huge, so we released on the same day.’ Sharma then highlighted the box office performance, noting that Yash’s film did better. Yash commented, ‘He is a superstar. The day I think that my seniors, unse main bada hoon, uss din meri dukaan band (The day I think I’m bigger than my seniors, that’s the day my career is over).’ Yash’s upcoming projects include Toxic, directed by Geethu Mohandas and starring Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria, and Huma Qureshi, slated for August 26, 2026. Additionally, Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana Part One and Part Two, featuring Yash as Ravana, Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman, are set for release on Diwali 2026 and 2027, respectively.
